Fennel is a short-lived perennial indigenous to Europe  &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
It is a greyish-green, hairless with vertically-grooved,  stems which smell of aniseed when crushed. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
appearing from July to September, &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
The fruits are ovoid-oblong and ridged.&lt;br&gt;
